I reignited my passion for art a few years ago and I have not looked back. Acrylic is my preferred medium, and animals are my muse.
My life is all about animals and always has been. I was able to achieve a National Certificate in animal care, which led me to spend over 20+ years being a dog groomer. After dedicating my time to doing this as my profession, I decided to slow this down and concentrate more on my family and running my Guinea Pig rescue and menagerie of rescue animals that live in my home.
I began to focus on pet portraits as I love the challenge of who will I paint next. I understand the overwhelming love we feel for our pets and try to convey their characters in my paintings. The positive feedback I have received from my commissions has been overwhelming and encouraging. I am lucky to be continuously busy with what I do, which may affect the overall completion time, so please bare this in mind if you were hoping to purchase a portrait by a specific date.
I find adding in bright pops of colour in the background or even bold, funky prints something I would consider my own personal style that adds a fun modern twist. Although I enjoy this look, I understand that not everyone’s homes may suit this twenty-first century design, so I am happy to mute this if desired. And of course you are more than welcome to give in your own thoughts and ideas as to how you would like your painting to look for the end result.
